<h2>Africa's Most Iconic Safari Destination</h2> <p>The Serengeti needs no introduction. Spanning 14,763 square kilometres of open savannah in northern Tanzania, it is home to the densest concentration of large mammals on the planet — and the stage for the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration, an endless river of 1.5 million animals following the rains in an unbroken annual cycle.</p> <p>For The Kosher Safari, the Serengeti is our most-requested destination. The combination of extraordinary wildlife, remote luxury lodges, and our ability to arrange truly mehadrin catering in even the most far-flung camps makes it the perfect backdrop for a once-in-a-lifetime Jewish family safari.</p> <h2>Wildlife & Game Viewing</h2> <p>The Serengeti hosts all of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — alongside cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, and hundreds of bird species. Game drives here feel different to anywhere else in Africa: the sheer openness of the ecosystem means you can watch a lion hunt unfold across kilometres of uninterrupted plain.</p> <p>The Migration passes through different zones depending on the month. From July to October the herds concentrate in the northern Serengeti, and the famous Mara River crossings happen. From December to March the calving season unfolds on the southern plains, drawing predators from across the ecosystem. There is no bad time to visit.</p> <h2>Kosher & Shabbat</h2> <p>Our partner lodges in the Serengeti all have dedicated kitchen facilities where our mashgiach can work. We arrange certified glatt-kosher catering flown in from Nairobi or Johannesburg as required, and every menu is approved before your group arrives. Shabbat at a Serengeti camp is an experience in itself — Kabbalat Shabbat in the bush, a proper Friday night dinner under a sky full of stars, and a restful Shabbat morning with guided birding walks.</p> <h2>Getting There</h2> <p>Most groups fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) then connect on a scheduled charter to one of the Serengeti's private airstrips — Seronera, Grumeti, Kogatende, or Lamai, depending on which part of the ecosystem you're visiting. Flight time from the main airports is 45–90 minutes. We handle all logistics including kosher in-flight meals for the charter sector.</p>
