Serengeti Safari Before or After Sukkot
The migration in September, quieter plains after the chag.
We don't run safaris over Sukkot. We plan private glatt-kosher Serengeti trips in the weeks either side: in September, before the Yamim Noraim, or from late October once Simchat Torah is over. You keep your chag at home and see the Serengeti at a great time of year.
Tishrei 5788 dates and your two windows
- Rosh Hashanah: Saturday 2 – Sunday 3 October 2027
- Yom Kippur: Monday 11 October 2027
- Sukkot to Simchat Torah: Saturday 16 – Sunday 24 October 2027
- Before: September 2027, home before Erev Rosh Hashanah (Friday 1 October).
- After: from Monday 25 October 2027 into early November.
Dates are for the diaspora. In Israel, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah fall on the same day, so the window after Sukkot opens a day earlier.
The Serengeti in September and after the chag
In September the migration herds are usually in the northern Serengeti, near the Mara River. After Sukkot the short rains approach and the herds begin to drift south, so we place your camp where the animals are expected to be. Every route is planned around Shabbat, with a camp stay over Friday night and Saturday.
